Slip collars are an effective training tool when used correctly and under supervision. In this video, we show you how to fit one properly and why we use two toggles on our PK9 Gear slip collars.
🎥 Watch the video below to see how to use a slip collar safely and confidently during training.
The two toggles serve a purpose:
The first toggle acts as a safety stop to prevent the collar from tightening too much.
The second toggle serves as a backup, so if one fails (since they’re plastic), you’ve always got another.
⚠️ Important Safety Tip: Never leave a slip collar on your dog when they’re unattended. It’s designed for training sessions and supervised walks only.
When fitting the collar:
Make sure it’s oriented correctly based on which side your dog walks on.
If your dog walks on your left-hand side, the collar should form a “P” shape when viewed from the front.
If your dog walks on your right-hand side, reverse it.
Position the collar just behind the ears for the best control and responsiveness.
Once fitted, attach your PK9 Gear lead and you’re ready to train safely and effectively.
