Closer control
Useful when you want your dog closer in busy environments, structured training or tighter spaces.
PK9 Gear fit guide
Get the fit right the first time. This guide covers the measurements you need for collars, slip collars, leads and custom PK9 Gear.
Step 01
Wrap a soft tape around the base of your dog's neck, where the collar will actually sit. Slide two fingers flat under the tape to allow a comfortable working fit.
Keep the tape snug, but do not pull it tight. Take the measurement twice and write down the larger result in centimetres.
No tape measure? Use a piece of string, a bootlace or a charging cable, mark the point where it meets, then measure that length against a ruler.
| Size | Neck | Typical dogs |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 21–25.5 cm | Toy breeds, small terriers, puppies |
| S | 25.5–32 cm | Whippets, mini poodles, small kelpies |
| M | 30–40 cm | Border collies, kelpies, staffies |
| L | 38–48 cm | Labradors, German shepherds, boxers |
| XL | 46–56 cm | Rottweilers, mastiffs, large shepherds |
Sizes can overlap between products. Always check the size selector or size chart on the product page before ordering.
Step 02
A slip collar must pass comfortably over your dog's head before it reaches its working position. Measure the complete circumference around the widest part of the head, typically just in front of the ears, over the skull, down the cheeks and underneath the jaw.
Keep your dog standing and settled, take the measurement twice, and use the larger result. Allow enough room for the collar to go on and off smoothly without being excessively loose in use.
Measure all the way around the widest part of the head, usually just in front of the ears, then compare it with the exact product options.
| Size | Best suited to |
|---|---|
| 45 cm | Small size option |
| 55 cm | Medium size option |
| 65 cm | Large size option |
Current sizes may vary by product and material. Keep this table aligned with the live product options.
Step 03
Lead length is less about your dog's body size and more about how you plan to use it. Shorter leads give closer control, while longer leads give more freedom for training, recall and exploration.
Useful when you want your dog closer in busy environments, structured training or tighter spaces.
A versatile everyday length with room for natural movement while maintaining a comfortable connection.
A practical long-line length for puppies, recall practice, controlled freedom and smaller training spaces.
More range for tracking, recall work, off-lead preparation and large open areas.
Step 04
