Using a Slip Lead the Right Way
A slip lead is designed for clear, gentle communication, not constant tension. When fitted and used correctly, it helps guide your dog’s movement while reinforcing calm, focused walking.
Correct placement high on the neck allows for lighter cues and quicker release, avoiding pressure on the lower throat. Communication should come from short, intentional leash signals, always followed by an immediate release when your dog responds.
The goal is loose-leash walking, not a tight line. If your dog pulls, pause, reset, and guide them back into position rather than pulling back continuously. Consistency and timing are key.
For safety, slip leads should only be used during supervised training or walks. Keep sessions short, positive, and reward-focused to build understanding and confidence.
