How do I measure my dog for a collar?
Wrap a soft tape around the base of the neck where the collar will sit. Slide two fingers under the tape. That two-finger gap is the fit. Full sizing rules with diagrams live on the Measuring Guide.
Slip collars: do I measure the neck or the head?
The head. A slip collar goes on and off over the skull, so if you size it to the neck it will not fit over the head, or it will sit too loose in use. Measure the widest part of the skull, usually around the ears and jaw, and add roughly 2 cm.
What is the lead time on custom orders?
Anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks depending on the leather run, hardware in stock, and where you sit in the queue. We give you a real ETA before we start work, and we do not take the deposit until we can commit to a date.
Leather or biothane, which should I pick?
Leather ages, softens, and lasts if you look after it. Biothane is waterproof, wipes clean, and does not care about mud, blood, or the beach. Working handlers, hunters, and water dogs run biothane. Everyone else usually ends up with leather. Both are made to last.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Free shipping in Australia over $120. International shipping is calculated at checkout and we ship worldwide. Most orders leave Melbourne within 3 working days.
What if the size is wrong when it arrives?
Email support@pk9gear.com.au with a photo of the collar on your dog. We will swap it for the right size at no cost within 30 days on stock items. Custom orders are covered if the size is off from the specs you sent.
