A slip lead is more than just a leash—it’s a training tool designed to provide clear communication between you and your dog. When used correctly, it helps with loose-lead walking, leash pressure training, and quick handling in real-world scenarios.
Step 1: Proper Placement is Key
One of the biggest mistakes people make is putting the slip lead too low on the neck. For effective control, the lead should sit high, just behind the ears. This gives you better leverage and keeps pressure off the lower throat.
Pro Tip: If your dog pulls, check the placement—it should never sit low like a regular collar.
Step 2: The Right Fit and Tension
A slip lead should form a quick-release loop that tightens when pressure is applied and instantly loosens when your dog responds correctly.
Too loose? The leash won’t be effective.
